What are Mood Disorders?
Mood disorders are a group of mental health conditions characterized by extreme or persistent changes in mood, which can interfere with daily activities.
Signs of Mood Disorders in Teens:
- Persistent sadness, irritability, or hopelessness
- Loss of interest in activities they used to enjoy
- Social withdrawal and/or isolation
- Changes in appetite and/or weight
- Fatigue or lack of energy
- Excessive energy and no desire to sleep
- Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
- Racing and/or intrusive thoughts
- Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
- Excessive sleep or sleep disturbance
- Extreme and sudden changes in appearance
- Possible alcohol and/or substance use
