Suicidal ideation in teens can include these warning signs:
- Talking or writing about suicide
- Withdrawing from social contact
- Having mood swings
- Increasing use of alcohol or drugs
- Feeling trapped, hopeless or helpless
- Changes normal routine
- Doing risky or self-destructive things
- Giving away belongings when there is no other logical explanation for why this is being done
In addition, the following life circumstances can drive suicidal ideation:
- Having a mental health diagnosis
- Family history of a mood disorder, suicide, or suicidal behavior
- History of abuse or exposure to violence or bullying
- Substance use disorder
- Access to means, such as firearms or medications
- Exposure to the suicide of a family member or friend
- Loss of or conflict with close friends or family members
- Physical or medical issues
- Being lesbian, gay, bisexual or any other sexual minority youth
- Being adopted
How ROWI can help:
Each client receives an individualized treatment plan that will support them in meeting their goals. Programs are individualized in order to meet each client and family where they are at in the process.
The PHP program (M-F 8am-3:30pm) includes:
- Individual therapy 2xs per week
- Family therapy 1x per week
- Psychiatry 1x per week
- School hours 8am-10am daily
- 5 hours of therapeutic groups daily
The IOP Program (M-Th 3:30pm-6:30pm) includes:
- Individual therapy 1x per week
- Family therapy bi-weekly
- 3 hours of therapeutic groups daily
In addition, ROWI undertakes extensive safety planning with clients and their families, including a No Harm Contract and Home Safety Agreement. We are in immediate communication with parents and provide outpatient resources for additional support–including making referrals for higher levels of care when necessary.
