What is Impulse Control & Emotional Regulation?

Impulse control and emotional regulation refer to the ability to manage one’s thoughts, feelings, and actions in a way that is appropriate and adaptive to the situation.

Signs of Impulse Control & Emotional Regulation Difficulties in Teens:

  • Stealing, lying, Starting fires
  • Episodes of aggressively acting out
  • Obsessive and/or compulsive thought patterns
  • Inability to control impulses and difficulty in remaining patient
  • Irritability and agitation
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Isolating oneself from friends and family
  • Lowered feelings of self-worth
  • Random episodes of emotional detachment

How ROWI can help:

Each client receives an individualized treatment plan that will support them in meeting their goals. Programs are individualized in order to meet each client and family where they are at in the process.

The PHP program (M-F 8am-3:30pm) includes:

  • Individual therapy 2xs per week
  • Family therapy 1x per week
  • Psychiatry 1x per week
  • School hours 8am-10am daily
  • 5 hours of therapeutic groups daily

The IOP Program (M-Th 3:30pm-6:30pm) includes:

  • Individual therapy 1x per week
  • Family therapy bi-weekly
  • 3 hours of therapeutic groups daily
